We all have tools, but how many of those tools have a perfect place for their own tools? Even lots of new tools don't have great storage. In this video I'll show the process of creating your own custom tool storage from a 3D scan.
I've had some experience with purpose built 3d scanners, but I've found that for most of what I need, Polycam is the best choice, and between the trial version, and the ability to export and convert for free, you can usually get what you need. They also have a cloud based version online if you want even more detailed pictures. Check out my previous video on scanning a 2" model to see more on that subject.
In the video I show you the way that I went completely overkill to create a custom magnetic tool holder which looks good on my old drill press, and more importantly works amazingly. This isn't a big project, the hope is that it shows the process of how you might do this yourself and it can easily be applied to tools or kitchen utensils, or well whatever you can think of.
Scanning tools isn't the fastest process and for simple tools it isn't necessary, but some tools are complex and it is super helpful to have that 3d scan to reference when designing something to fit onto it.
I've been using the Bambu X1 Carbon in most of my recent videos and it is an amazing printer, especially along with the AMS. I've just finished setting up the new Flagship Creality K1 Core XY printer, and I still need to run through the calibration process, but it is working well, and it is incredibly fast. They're in completely different price ranges, but I'll be showing it off in upcoming videos as well to see what it can do.
