Wagner Leitmotifs | 31 Hate : Der Ring Des Nibelungen @wagnerleitmotifs7654 | Uploaded August 2013 | Updated October 2024, 7 hours ago.
This leitmotif is first heard in the forth scene of Das Rheingold.
This motif accompanies feelings of great loathing between characters, for example when Alberich has just had the Ring stolen, thus does he address Wotan before casting his curse.
This motif is derived from the central notes of the Ring motif, which form a diminished triad on the sustained notes, crating a most discordant sound. It is also derived from the curse motif used in his much earlier opera, Tannhäuser.
