Wagner Leitmotifs | 104 Forgetfulness : Der Ring Des Nibelungen @wagnerleitmotifs7654 | Uploaded September 2013 | Updated October 2024, 9 hours ago.
This leitmotif is first heard in act 1 scene 1 of Gotterdammerung.
This motif is heard as Siegfried drinks a potion given to him by Gutrune which makes him forget Brunnhilde. It is similar to the Tarnhelm motif in its unstable harmonies giving it an unnerving feeling, and the trill adds to the sense of magic.
