If there was ever a time to panic, it’d be right now
Physical game sales are lower than they’ve ever been in the past three decades, and this is exactly why Sony picked them off for good
In the past year, console hardware sales in the US dropped nearly 40 percent while the average cost’s only gone up - and despite that, profits are down bigly, too
Not only does this justify Rockstar and Playstation’s decisions to double down on digital-only sales, but it proves that quite a few people aren’t worried about the shift, either
And I get it - I wanna own what I pay for, too - but this is the direction the market’s trending toward, and the powers at be clearly don’t wanna front the cost so consumers can sleep better at night
