Climate change’s now making our phones worse.
The latest Samsung Ultra phones, folding and regular alike, launched with a 24 megapixel picture mode that doesn’t reliably work right now. Instead, these phones are being reported as only giving out half that at 12 megs, back to the way things were last year.
And now, Samsung’s confirmed that this is because it’s just too dang hot outside. With recent heatwaves going on, even over in their local South Korea, the phones won’t go into full 24 MP mode unless the temperatures are below 45C.
Which 113F can be pretty easy to breach out in direct sunlight during these summer sun attacks.
