On Monday, April 20, 2026, at around 10:30 a.m., MCSO deputies responded to an Airbnb rental on Pecan Pass, where a 2-year-old boy had fallen into the pool and was not breathing. The family advised that he had been playing in the living room, but within a few short minutes, he opened the sliding glass door to the patio and fell in. Fortunately, a family member quickly noticed that he was gone and rescued him from the water.
Master Sergeant Tiffany Warren and Corporal Carlos Arias arrived at the rental home. They immediately began rendering aid to the young boy lying on the patio. MSgt. Warren provided numerous rescue breaths to the little boy and repeatedly placed him on his side in an attempt to expel the water he had taken in. After a series of breaths, he began to spit up fluids. Corporal Arias then heard the sirens from the Marion County Fire Rescue ambulance, scooped up the 2-year-old, and rushed to meet them at the roadway. Medics transported him to Advent Health for treatment, where he was stabilized. The boy was transported to Shands Hospital, where he fully recovered and has now returned home!
We are so glad that this story had a happy ending. If that family member had not realized that the little boy was in the pool for even a few minutes longer, this would have ended much differently.
We are also proud of MSgt. Warren and Cpl. Arias for acting quickly and utilizing their life-saving training!
