Toyota built the strangest truck in the desert-truck fight. The 2027 Tundra TRD Pro is the only hybrid in a class of gas monsters, and it makes LESS horsepower than a Ford F-150 Raptor. Then it out-pulls it anyway.

The i-FORCE MAX 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid makes 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. That torque figure is the highest in the class: 73 lb-ft more than the Raptor's 510, and enough to tow around 11,175 lb, more day-to-day than the Ford. For 2027 the TRD Pro also gets newly designed FOX QS3 shocks (3-position, manually adjustable), standard red tow hooks, and available IsoDynamic Off-Road Seats that damp your body over rough ground.
But this is a torque-and-towing overlander, not a Baja pre-runner, and this video is honest about which fight it wins.

THE HONEST PART: it is badged a desert flagship, but a modest lift and short-travel FOX shocks get out-run at speed by a Raptor's longer-travel Fox suspension, wider track and available 37-inch tires. The IsoDynamic seat is a genuinely clever feature and also a tell: a seat built to isolate your body hints the chassis underneath stays firm and busy. And the hybrid badge buys capability, not thrift, at 19 mpg combined.
THE ONE TO BUY: the i-FORCE MAX TRD Pro CrewMax, the only way it comes. SKIP IT IF your dream is flat-out desert speed. CROSS-SHOP the Ford F-150 Raptor for pace and the Ram 1500 RHO for power, then be honest about how you actually use a truck.
