I was stoked that Snow Summit decided to open the bike park early this year. We got to stay at the Historic Log Cabin in Big Bear only a mile from Snow Summit. Originally I thought the Park would be open on Thursday for Pass holders but found out it only opened on Friday. We stayed up Thursday and I had to leave Friday night because I had to be at the restaurant for the weekend.
The built a bunch of new features and all of them were a big improvement. There are 3 big features that really intimidated me. They are all 3 stacked back to back. The first is a big tombstone (which is now the biggest jump in the park) followed by a step up than pavers to a bigger step up between the trees. These jumps take a ton of speed to clear so it requires 100% commitment. It was my goal to clear everything on the first day and it wasn't looking too good in the morning I probably skipped or cased that big tombstone at least 5 laps. Once I finally cleared the Tombstone I went for the 2 step ups. I was super stoked when I finally cleared them and Broc reminded me that I needed to clear them a 2nd time to make sure it wasn't a fluke and on my last lap I cleared all 3 or them the cleanest. It was a great day!
After the ride we headed back to the cabin and BBQ, drink, cold plunge and hot tub. I really wanted to stay but had to head back home to take care of the restaurant. The cabin was so dope! If you are looking to book a dope cabin about 1 mile from Snow Summit book at thehideawaybigbear.com
