With the help of USBWidEx I was able to get my 2nd 10 MB Widget drive working. I mounted it in an external enclosure, and hooked it up to the 2 port card.
The Lisa wouldn't boot Office System from the external Widget... I recall that the boot sector on a Profile and Widget are not the same. However, it did work in Xenix as a 2nd disk!
In this video I'm copying /usr to the external drive. Installed software lives in /usr, so this would free a lot of space on the first disk. It also makes the system run faster since both disks can access at the same time.
I haven't read about someone with 2 Widgets on one Apple Lisa before. It wasn't hard to implement though, the only challenge was finding a power supply with a -12v rail for the external enclosure.
For those that don't know, this is a 1984 Apple Lisa 2/10, running Microsoft Xenix (Unix). Widget is the name Apple gave to their made in house 10mb hard drive, used only in the Lisa 2/10.
