VHS tape from 1991. Correcting a high or fluctuating idle on the 2.0 16V engine used in the B3 Passat, Jetta GLI, and Golf GTI.
This isn't the first time improper connections to the radio caused service headaches. In 1997 VW brought the K diagnostic line into the radio on a pin which was previously used for an amp turn on. Plug in an older radio, or some aftermarket harnesses, and the diag line ends up shorted to 12v. Oops...
