At 9:15 p.m. on July 24, 2026, Houston Police Department officers responded to a shoplifting call at an Old Navy store in the 5000 block of Westheimer, located the suspect vehicle, and attempted a stop at South Rice and West Park; the vehicle fled, leading to a pursuit northbound on I-59 near the SH 288/I-45 area, where it was involved in a minor collision, after which all four occupants ran across the freeway and two females were struck and killed by southbound traffic while the other two females were taken into custody (ages and criminal histories unknown; a tracking device aided in locating the vehicle).
