A driver suspected of speeding and driving under the influence was killed in a head-on crash shortly after 11 p.m. on July 27, 2026, in the 9300 block of Tidwell Road in Houston. According to Houston police, preliminary findings indicate the driver of a sedan crossed the center divider and collided head-on with a pickup truck. The sedan driver was transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The female driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries but was reported to be in stable condition. Investigators said speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash, which occurred on a dark stretch of roadway known for speeding.
