In this video I show you two fun ways you can add cross stitching to your slow stitching. You’ll be amazed at the first method where you cross stitch into Aida fabric and then almost magically remove it! The second method uses gingham fabric as a base.

Here’s a link to Sarah T who inspired me to try this exciting new to me idea: instagram.com/thread.and.connect?igsh=MXYyY3o4aGIxZmw1dA==

This video is part of our community slow stitching project for 2026 that is running as a beginner friendly stitch along.

Everyone is welcome to participate and this project is beginner friendly for those new to slow stitch. We’ll be stitching a hexagon work mat for your studio or craft room desk featuring vintage embroideries, slow stitch designs and fabrics. I’ll be sharing vintage embroidery transfer designs from my collection and lots of inspiration to include in your own work mat. I’ll also be sharing other ideas using hexies.

You can join at any stage during the year and work at your own pace. This beginner friendly project can be tailored and adapted to the supplies and time you have on hand, and what you want to create with the hexagons. There is no cost to participate.

Here’s a link to the playlist for this stitch along where you can find the videos numbered so you can catch up in order:

Please let me know in the comments if there are particular vintage designs you would like me to share eg of animals or flowers.

I’m so excited to share this fun and beginner friendly slow stitch along project with you and this wonderful slow stitching community.

Cheers,
Christine
