On the bench today is a 1:43 scale 1963 Corvette Sting Ray with the very desireble split rear window. This Del Prado brand model was released in 1999 and production continued to 2001. Mine’s done in a metallic light steel blue. I got it on eBay, honestly listed as having ‘parts missing’ but not specific as to which parts! But the price was right so I grabbed it. This is the first of my 2026 Summer Road Series of buddy builds, this time with Charles’ Diecast Garage.

This Sting Ray is the second-generation (C2) Corvette sports car, produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 1963-1967 model years. The 1963 coupe was particularly distinctive by virtue of its unique split rear window, a styling feature that appeared only in this year. The base price in 1963 was $4,257.00.

FYI: All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.
