A Kenmore Air de Havilland DHC-3 Otter carrying 10 passengers and one pilot crashed near Sucia Island in Washington’s San Juan Islands before becoming engulfed in flames.
Remarkably, everyone aboard survived.
The aircraft had departed Seattle’s Lake Union and was traveling to Roche Harbor when the pilot reportedly adjusted the flight path in response to developing weather. Witness video shows the floatplane flying low before striking the rocky shoreline near Shallow Bay.
