JiuJitsuMag | Yuri Simoes, Triangle Choke From Body X-Guard: Jiu-Jitsu Magazine, Issue #31. @JiuJitsuMag | Uploaded March 2015 | Updated October 2024, 12 hours ago.
Well, well, well... we meet again Mr. Simoes. If you're a regular reader of Jiu-Jitsu Magazine then you'll know that we've had Yuri featured in past issues twice prior to this one. Apparently the third time really is the charm as Yuri Simoes has found a string of success recently. In 2013 he made the change to train with the Caio Terra Association and has since won the 2014 NoGi World Championships at both his weight in the absolute division, while simultaneously evening up the score at that time with rival Keenan Cornelius. At 1-1, the two rekindled that rivalry at Metamoris 5 and though they fought to a draw it was truly one of the best matches of the year. Stepping into 2015, Yuri has already found himself as the first ever Jiu-Jitsu World League Heavy Weight Open Champion; earning him a cool $5K in the process. All during this entire process of change from camps, Yuri has been experimenting with a new guard he's been developing that he calls the Body-X Guard. We could sit here and explain it, but it's better to just show you. If you'd like to get in touch with or follow Yuri and all his on-goings, you can do so at https://www.yurisimoes.com, on Facebook at facebook.com/yuri.simoes.5 and on both Instagram and Twitter @yurisimoesbjj.
In this video Yuri demonstrates a triangle choke from the Body X-Guard. The gis both he and his partner are wearing can be found at https://www.gameness.com.
