The name Gracie is and will always be synonymous with the martial arts world, as the family redefined the way we completely look at self-defense and fighting systems in the 1990's. While many have trained under the name, none have probably been let into it's inner circle more so than Pedro Sauer; so much so that he is held in such high esteem by the family that he was the first non-Gracie allowed to use the title "Gracie Academy" at his schools. He's one of the few who can claim the title Master in front of his name by holding a current rank of red/black coral belt, earning his promotions from the likes Relson, Royler, Rorion, Rickson, and Grandmaster Helio Gracie. With an immaculate understanding of technique down to the millimeter, Master Sauer is able to turn a good move into something spectacular that can be used for self-defense, MMA, or on the mats. Once again we were allowed the pleasure to meet up with him, have our minds blown (just as he did in issue #9) and come away looking at jiu-jitsu with a broader sense of it's power and deeper appreciation of it's worth. There are two scenarios in this video. Let's say that an attacker is attempting to strangle you and has forced you against the wall to limit your movement. Master Sauer has just the counter attack for it as he shows you how the little things can make the greatest impact and how to "break" the hold. In another scenario where an attacker has a single handed stranglehold, they may be threatening you verbally or cocking their arm back to punch. Master Sauer demonstrates how to turn the attackers own forward pressure against him/her. These moves are applicable for self-defense purposes. Master Sauer is being assisted by Luis Heredia of Maui Jiu-Jitsu.
