"You've Made Me So Very Happy" was a huge hit for jazz-rock band Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1969. It charted to the #2 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and became a Gold record. The song was first released in 1967 by Brenda Holloway who also co-wrote it. BS&T original founder Al Kooper came up with the idea to cover this song, but he left the group before they recorded it. His replacement, David Clayton-Thomas, took over and sang lead on this track. The song was the first of three U.S. #2 releases on BS&T's second LP, Blood, Sweat & Tears and was used as their set closer at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. It was the #1 album in America the same year as well.
