Basement walls have a tendency to stay cold throughout the year if they aren't thermally coupled to the interior conditioned space, and the unrestricted movement of humid interior air can lead to condensation if you use the wrong insulation strategy. We provide guidance on insulating basement walls safely, either on the exterior with continuous insulation or on the interior with airtight, vapor-retarding continuous insulation.
