So apparently YouTube's been rolling out a version of their homepage where everything is giant thumbnails, not organized, just a cluttered mess. Nothing recommended, no indication of what's from people you're subscribed to, no categories, just gigantic thumbnails. Apparently the idea is to make the desktop version mimic the mobile version. I have no idea why, the mobile version is overly basic with disproportionately large thumbnails because it's limited on what it can show on such a tiny screen, the desktop version is supposed to be better. What looks good on a 5" phone screen looks ridiculous on a 30" monitor. Is anyone else stuck with this dreadful redesign? Apparently GoogleTube is trying to make YouTube the video version of Instagram, not realizing that tons of desktop users use this for so many functions, and many things can only be done efficiently on a PC that can't be done on a phone. YouTube is only shooting themselves in the foot by trying to be a competitor to Instagram instead of staying in their niche. Whatever dumbass thought this was a good idea needs to be fired immediately. Same with the people who approved this.
My theory is that Google is trying to kill YouTube and turn it into just a video hosting site like Hulu, look at how they're disabling the comments by force on more and more videos with their "official" reason being transparent lies, and they're making their site more and more unusable by the day. I think Google is still bitter that we didn't like Google+ and that they couldn't get use to use it by force so they're killing their actual social media site, YouTube, so they can bring back Google+ and force us to use it so we can comment again. Notice how they also temporarily killed search filters back in March. I think that was a test run and they plan on doing it more and more until the filters are gone and they can take away the search feature entirely. Like I said, they want it to be just a video hosting site with no social media or friendships formed on here.
But some small YouTuber like me speaking out isn't going to make a different. We need big YouTubers to speak up about this.
