Pain and arthritis tend to be the most focused on health benefits in yoga. The way that this practice is therapeutic might surprise you: increased mindfulness through present-moment awareness and expanded repertoires of doing through connecting with ones personal values and working with pain.
Just to be clear, the evidence doesn't show that yoga makes pain or arthritis go away, it demonstrates that these practices are a benefit by helping people open up to the moment and engage with it, embracing the pain so that they can do more in the presence of it.
