Hello friends, this is the Yamaha MU5 - a portable General Midi sound module and my insider tip for anyone searching a cheap module to enjoy the world of midi music and retro-gaming. I pay just 20€ for it and this kind of offers appear from time to time in local marketplaces, at least in my area.
The MU5 features the Yamaha YMW258 IC that we already knew from the older Yamaha TG100. I assume Yamaha paired the MU5 with better quality samples but for now I could not get further information about the size of the Rom and the resolution of the samples.

In my opinion, the sound quality of this tiny module is excellent in relation to the low price these modules were offered from time to time.
If you look out for such a unit, you can also search for its successor, the MU15 - it is in the same (but silver coloured) box, and it additionally features Yamahas XG standard (not needed for DOS-Gaming) and probably a bigger soundfont.
