This is "Xevious" for the Amstrad CPC released back in 1986 by U.S. Gold and developed by Probe Software.
It is the CPC adaptation of the Atari's classic video game and although it is a poor one, it still is quite playable and enjoyable, at least in the first stages because the difficulty climbs rapidly in later ones.
Before i make this longplay i played the game using the invisibility cheat just to see if there is an end to it.
Sadly it's just another game that repeats its levels.
Basically there are two large stages and after them the game goes back to the first with the difficulty increased.
In this video you will see the first three stages (stage 1, stage 2 and the re-run of stage 1) as beyond these the game offers nothing more to see.
Of course while i was making the video i DIDN'T use cheats.
Another thing i want to comment is the funny way the collision detection works.
In several parts you will see an enemy bullet hitting me but the game doesn't register that as a death.
I also noticed that collision detection gets crazy when your ship is at the far right side of the play area.
Thank you for watching and feel free to rate and comment.

This is Overkill for the Commodore Amiga released back in 1993 by Mindscape and developed by Mark Sibly.
The game is based on Defender but its gameplay is different.
Due to the ultra fast action of the game, there were moments i couldnt figure out what was going on!
Very playable but very hard and unforgiving in places.
