First of all: This video is not sponsored. I bought this Coring Tool because I wanted to be able to make more efficient use of my wood. Instead of creating heaps of shavings I can now cut a smaller bowl blank from a big log. The big pieces of Ash I aquired recently are ideal for this and coring is done preferrably while the wood is still fresh. I used a 12" template for the big blank, the resulting cutout can be made into another bowl of approximately 8".
You will be able to see the initial setup of the tool and the method I used to measure the depth of the cut. Everything is playing in real time, perhaps boring for some but if you want to see how the coring tool works you are at the right place. This is all still very new to me but I felt rather comfortable while using this tool. The lathe speed was set to about 220rpm and it felt completely right. You don't need high speeds for this. I even think that a lower speed is better for chip clearing.
