One of the dogs we have is a Newfoundlander. His name is Komo and he is my son's dog. He is our largest dog and the gentlest member of the family. He used to have a rather heavy foodbowl made from clay, until it broke. The bosslady got him a stainless steel one with rubber feet but it kept sliding on the kitchenfloor. So I decided to make him an outer bowl from Walnut. In order to have enough mass, it had to be quite big. It ended up at just under 40cm wide and about 15cm high. You cannot buy these at the petshop and as you will see at the end it is really rock stable now. Mission accomplished! Let me know what you think!
