Free wood isn't always fresh. In this case I picked up a log that had been out in the bush for a few years at least. It still had a good amount of weight to it and I was hoping to find some solid wood inside. I used my chainsaw mill to cut it into slabs and the top and bottom semi-round sections were left to be cut into bowl blanks. This is the first one of them, used to check if this wood will be worth turning or perhaps better be burned before it decays even further. I guess the results are less than I had hoped for but it might still be possible to make something out of it. Lots of tear-out that I will probably not be able to sand away completely. It gives the bowl a battered look which some people might like and others don't.
So my questions to all of you: Do you consider this bowl worth finishing or not and what advice can you give me to do it?
