WON'T FORGET YOU
Original music and lyrics by Glen Clark.
It's been at least 8 months since I've recorded anything and the process for writing and recording this song happened quite quickly.
Lyrically the song could be about a number of things; it could be a love song, a break up song or a lament for something cherished and lost. I'll leave the interpretation of the lyrics up to you as the listener.
Fully recorded, mixed and mastered in GarageBand on MacOS (Mac Mini M1).
Only 14 tracks make up this song (possibly an all time low record for me LOL) with half of them being vocal tracks. Drum track, bass guitar, two acoustic guitars, harmonica and violin, plus a lead vocal and half a dozen backing vocal tracks.
I played every instrument (apart from the drum track) rather than using any virtual instruments. Which meant that apart from blowing into a harmonica (which was relatively straightforward), I also had to teach myself a few notes on the violin. It took quite a few attempts to get a decent take but I'm pretty happy with the end result.
The video - oh boy the video - now that was quite the undertaking. I sat in my darkened wardrobe over the course of about three hours and took over 1600 individual photographs - each with different lighting angle. The hardest part was trying to take photos of my time-lapse lip syncing and then line them up to the song. Suffice to say that around a thousand photos in and I was starting to question my own sanity LOL
Hopefully the overall effect though makes for an interesting enough video.
