This is Crow eating his sister Coral’s head. They’re wolfdogs and this behaviour is very natural. It’s called ‘muzzling’ as it’s often the muzzles they hold, but can also be the head, as in this circumstance.
Wolves and wolfdogs ‘muzzle’ each other — gently grabbing the snout or entire head as in this case — its a normal, non-violent way to communicate. Adults use it like a polite but firm correction, especially with pups or pushy youngsters: ‘respect the boundary.’ Lower-ranking animals often accept it to confirm rank and keep peace. And it can also be bonding — part of greeting and affection — because they don’t have hands, so they use their mouths like we use a hug.
