River is a 50% multigenerational wolfdog and one trait wolfdogs are known for is their dexterity with their mouths. They use them like hands. Here River is using his mouth to guide me upstairs to where he’d like me to go. It could be to show me his toy to throw, or simply to get attention onto him.
It’s not dominant unless you allow it to dominate your own decisions. If a wolfdog becomes rough or draws blood, he hadn’t learned what boundaries you’ve laid down and you need to re establish them.
