Here's a sign-off recorded from WNET out of Newark, New Jersey (public television channel 13 serving the New York City tri-state area), early June 1987. It aired immediately after the Cinema 13 showing of "For Whom the Bell Tolls," and the video begins with the movie's final seconds, showing the Paramount logo. Then:
--sponsors Syms Clothing ("Where an educated consumer is our best customer") and Members of Thirteen;
--a fella with style suggests everyone support PBS because it's the best thing on television, "by fah";
--a bunch of members' last names float by as an intro to a promo, for the newest installment of Masterpiece Theatre's "The Jewel in the Crown";
--a voice-over only promo for "Dottie" on American Playhouse;
--a promo for Wednesday (June 10th, 1987) touts "You Gotta Have Art: Frank Stella," "Smithsonian World: Promise of the Land," and "The Immortal Beethoven" (with the last two shows featured in the PBS magazine Dial);
--the sign-off is read over scenes around Jersey. The VO begins with the usual particulars, then technical staff is credited, "Sesame Street" is promoted as the next show broadcast at 7:30 the following morning, and announcer Mike Morris wishes all a good night.
