Here’s the lineup for the premium cable channel Showtime in January of 1985, forty years ago now.
First up is a “coming next” bump for Scarface, then Showtime makes excitement with such movies as Sudden Impact and Zelig. Original shows include Bizarre with John Byner, The Paper Chase, Brothers, and Robin Hood, plus a staged presentation of Sweeney Todd. They also honor Elvis Presley for what would have been his 50th birthday (born January 8th, 1935).
“Familytime” programming offered the kiddies such treats as The Hobbit and The Prince and the Pauper (both 1977, but the latter was released originally as Crossed Swords).
Finally, Terms of Endearment got an exclusive premiere on Showtime in February, and this upload closes with the opening of the “Do They Know it’s Christmas” music video.
