This video is slightly more recent than my usual nostalgia uploads, 1992, but it still feels pretty darn 80's to me, in that pre-internet, no-URLs-in-the-ads-yet kinda way.
This movie recording (from Philadelphia's WPVI channel 6) on the second day of the year caught the end of the late-night re-broadcast of the earlier news, so there's a bit of the weather report and the final, human-interest-type story, delivered by Jim Gardner (anchoring along with Dave Roberts and Gary Papa). Then the "Cinema 6" intro (the outro and bumps are in there later), and some promos for syndicated shows such as those hosted by Donahue, Oprah and Sally Jessy. The station’s news promos are pretty great.
There are Public Service Announcements featuring McGruff and Mariette Hartley and a strange pianist in the woods (can anyone tell me who that is?). Other promos spotlight local shows such as Visions and Prime Time, and the recording runs out during one for AM Philadelphia.
