Here's a neat little Christmas treat I compiled from various sources: short "Season's Greetings" films as shown in movie theaters, from the 1930's to 1970 or so. Most are simply messages of good will from the theater owners to their faithful patrons, some are for Christmas Seals proffered by celebrities to fight tuberculosis, plus there's some other cool stuff in there.
You'll see:
--Christmas Seals for 1938;
--management greetings, 1939;
--Bette Davis performing a scene to promote war bonds, 1943 (the audio is a little low in this one, and the opening title, "A Present with a Future," is absent);
--a wish for lasting peace (first post-World War II Christmas),1945;
--Christmas Seals, 1946 (with Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, and Shirley Temple, presumably on the set of "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer");
--management offers "A Visit with Santa," 1949;
--Christmas Seals, 1951 (with Gary Cooper);
--Santa offers wishes for prosperity (not sure of year);
--a family scene (not sure of year);
--Christmas Seals, 1953 (Rosemary Clooney, music by Buddy Cole);
--Christmas Seals, 1954 (Virginia Mayo);
--fun animated greetings from the management, 1954;
--more good cheer from the management (with some recycled scenes), 1955;
--a host segment from General Electric Theater as aired on December 23rd, 1956 (with Ronald Reagan, Nancy Reagan, and daughter Patti, who seems to be dubbed);
--animated holiday wishes (with a tree family thrilled that Junior got the axe), 1959;
--Christmas Seals, 1960 (with voiceover by Ozzie Nelson, as seen on a 1960 Christmas episode of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet");
--Dixieland-style greetings from the owners, 1968;
--more greetings from the National Screen Service Corporation, 1968;
--a really peculiar animated greeting that concludes with a man carrying a naked woman in his arms (with, I believe, VO by Edward Everett Horton), 1969?;
--Gulf States Theatres, Inc., offers wishes for health and happiness in several languages, and 1390 WROA in Gulfport, Mississippi offered 24 hour rock, circa 1970.
