IMPORTANT: Please don't put patches or cleaning pellets all the way down the barrel. The moving parts in the breech area can jam. I get it done by cocking the gun FIRST, but stop short of the loading area. The metal rod - by itself - could damage the plastic parts. The rod is measured and Sharpie marked, OUTSIDE THE BODY, at muzzle top, with the front just behind the follower toggle, plastic button.
So this will be an Easter Egg for those who bother to read this section. Please know that this gun CAN LOAD AND SHOOT FROM THE SHOULDER!! That makes this an addictive pop can popper! As long as you have the strength to cock the spring THEN rack the pump forward on it's catch point.
If you can't manage the full pump motion, then the barrel needs to be pointed up. STRAIGHT up is good.
Know that is a popular item. I barely got this carnival gun. It was out of stock, and I jumped on it when it became available.

TRIGGER
The trigger is STIFF, very rudimentary, just a blade and a piston sear, very crude. If you are right handed, Kentucky windage, LEFT on can, may help.
AMMO
More expensive BBs deliver here with best can accuracy and pop can penetration! These expensive BBs extend range to 10 yards. My 2nd model 12 won't load Marksman ammo, so Umarex Zinc is my preferred BB and accurate.
Standard Daisy BBs look surprisingly good for affordable BBs. Be ready to close under 10 yards. My 1st model 12 broke at around 4000 shots, and in the breech was a not -so-great Daisy BB.
Consider Umarex Zinc or Avanti.

25 vs Model 12
The 12 is no replacement for the 25. The 25 is slightly more powerful and a good degree more accurate. My 25 doesn't need fancy BBs but looks really good with Avanti or Umarex Zinc.
The 25 advantages over the 12:
(1) Breech access for the 25 is an "A". The single pumps get an A+ because there is no diasssembly. My short 25 video on clearing BB jam, which means barrel jam, shows the ease. Any jam from bad BB in the loading tube is misfeed jam. That also is easy to clear.
A barrel jam in 12 means complete disassembly and removal of the barrel assembly. The tricks for clearing jams in Ryder don't work here. The Model 12 gets an "F" for breech access.
The gunshop guys said this when I brought it in for a chat during their down time: "We worked on one after getting the diagram from Daisy, and there are 13 screws that ALL need to be removed are you break the plastic frame. Just TRYING to disassemble this could break it. With all the abuse we see kids do to the Ryders, we don't know what kind of future the Model 12 has with a BB jam likely INSTANT DEATH to this gun, because of the moving plastic parts in back. They will have to be smart and send it into the Daisy warranty officers. Few youth gun shooters are that cautious. For the warranty officers, it is a great design to work on for the well acquainted - maybe that will be enough to keep it in production."
My gunshop has fixed a 12 already, not because of breakage, but user error. A shooter thought he could put a patch down the muzzle and shoot it out, like the Ryder, but it jams moving parts I will cover in another video.
