YOU MUST COCK IT ALL THE WAY UP TO AVOID FAKE JAM. 7 CLICKS (7th actual sear catch). That means you need to operate it correctly so it shoots, so you don't think it's broken.

DON'T FILE THE SEAR ASSEMBLY OR "TOOTH". JUST LUBE.
NOTE: Your Ryder can jam - it is not always as simple as cocking the lever all the way up. But try to RECOCK it if your trigger won't fire gun.

My gunsmith on modifying trigger: "Look, for most people, they will screw that up. If you become too much of a virtuoso with a file, there are two possible outcomes: one, you file so much off the catch, that it won't lock the plunger any more; no more gun. The second, and worse result, is the gun fires on its own. Your average shooter should just shoot the gun to break it in."
On Breaking it in, the Ryder starts showing accuracy at 200 shots. It shows true potential around 300 - 500 shots.
