In this video, I take you along as I juice wild grapes for the first time, using a steam juicer to extract the juice for making homemade jelly. We start by harvesting a basket of small, seed-filled wild grapes from our back fence row. I explain the juicing process, including how to set up and use the steam juicer, and the importance of safety when working with hot juice. After a few hours of steaming and mashing, I’m thrilled to have extracted about 10 cups of rich, dark grape juice—more than I expected! While I plan to make jelly with this juice, I might freeze some for later since we’re about to head out on a vacation.
