Themeparkfanatic | Wild Chipmunk at Lakeside Amusement Park @woodencoasterfan | Uploaded June 2017 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
This wonder coaster is a Wild Mouse coaster from Miller Manufacturing and opened here in 1955. Benjamin Krasner, owner of the park, decided to buy this coaster and named it after the numerous chipmunks that inhabit the parks in the area. The inspiration for the name came from the maneuverability of the chipmunks in how they can quickly dart in and out of the bushes. This is the only wild mouse coaster I've ridden that has manual brakes instead of the automatic brakes that you see on coasters today.
According to RCDB.com, this coaster is 41 ft. high, 1,150 ft. long, has a top speed of about 21 mph, and a total ride time of about 21 seconds.
