Wikiup Creek Canyon
Ah, Nick. My friend and canyoneering buddy. We've been on some great adventures. So when he recommended a little known canyoneering route outside Camp Verde, I was all in. But the thing about me is I am not a good listener. I can't even pretend to be. I swear I heard him say "this is a 1 hour canyon" and immediately thought of how easy a day I had in front of me. What he actually said is a subject of debate. Regardless, this was not a 1 hour canyon. There was not an easy stroll up a hill to two quick rappels followed by Mexican food and a short drive home where I would be sitting on the couch before noon. This was an off route excursion into the wilderness where self sufficience and preparation were needed. Luckily, we were ready. Or maybe he was just ready and I committed myself to the point it was easier to go through than back. Either way, it was a fun canyon and any day in the outdoors beats a day at the office. So no complaints. Except all my previous complaints.
