We are not using the Afterblow in HEMA as a ruleset and it did not have to be because of the right of way. We keep it a way more simpler: Don't get hit - first.
It does not mater if your opponent did not know what he is doing or if he is suicidal, you do not want to get hit and that should be the goal in weapon based martial arts.
I know it's hard to use it in tournaments because fencers use the rules to their advantage. and thats fine. But if we all had the same goal it would be easy to fence more realistic with unrealistic rules.
