The smallsword is the ancestor of the duelling sword which translates directly to the modern Olympic Epee. Historical fencing trains the same weapon in a different way with another mindset like "dont get hit!" one hit is one to much! So the art of hit without being hit! that mostly the main difference because in technique they did not change that much. In this video we present you the tocco di spada also called a sforzo or sometimes beat and the beat parry called a parata di picchio by Paolo de Scalzi. btw. it's literally the parry of the woodpecker.
