Although they frequently roost in the countryside, an urban site offers additional advantages. Street lighting helps them spot predators more easily, while warmth from surrounding buildings creates gentler microclimates on cold nights. Busy urban locations also tend to deter predators, making them an ideal winter refuge for Pied Wagtails.
The Pied Wagtail is found in Ireland and Great Britain. It is a subspecies of the White Wagtail (Moticilla alba).
