Most sales objections are not the real objection.
They are usually the safest version of the objection.
“I need to think about it” may mean they are uncertain.
“It is too expensive” may mean they do not fully believe the outcome is likely.
“I need to talk to my partner” may mean they are afraid of making the wrong decision alone.
That is why pitching harder usually does not work.
You are responding to the surface objection instead of finding the real concern underneath it.
The 1-to-10 close works because it slows the conversation down.
Instead of debating the objection, you ask where they actually stand.
“If 1 means you are not interested at all and 10 means you are ready to move forward, where are you right now?”
Then you listen.
The number matters less than the reason behind the number.
That is where the real sales conversation starts.
Stop pitching harder.
Start asking better questions.
