Why does Mos Espa look so different than it did in The Phantom Menace? I think we’re just seeing a different side of the city. The Book of Boba Fett shows us probably the more bustling, lively part of Mos Espa, built within a pit of some kind. In The Phantom Menace, it’s stated that the Queen’s ship lands on the outskirts of the city, and then they stick over to that side. The wide shots of Mos Espa show that the city spreads far beyond the lower portion, so we can assume our heroes in Episode One simply never travel deep into the central areas.
