Why was Tarre Vizsla so important to the Mandalorians? As the Armorer says in The Book of Boba Fett, he was both a Jedi and a Mandalorian that created the darksaber over a thousand years before the time of the Empire. He was the *first* Mandalorian Jedi and the founder of House Vizsla, making Paz Vizsla his descendant. We don’t yet know his full story, but he may have left the Jedi Order to become Mandalore, the leader of the Mandalorian people. But when he passed away, the darksaber was taken by the Jedi and kept in their temple for safekeeping. Eventually the Mandalorians of House Vizsla attacked and reclaimed the weapon for themselves. It became an heirloom of their people, and a symbol of power and leadership for all of Mandalore.
