Leen Ritmeyer, leading archaeologiest, has determined the very spot on which the Ark of the Covenant once stood in Solomon's Temple. After checking out all historical resources and actual measurements on the Temple Mount, Ritmeyer says the Temple stood over the same spot where the Mosque of Omar stands today. Furthermore, the es-Sakkra (The Rock) under it's golden dome was once the floor of the Holy of Holies. A rectangular depression in the stone marks the very place prepared for the Ark. It has the same dimensions - 2 feet 7 inches by 4 feet 4 inches.
