Rikki Poynter | when hearing people stare at deaf people signing @rikkipoynter | Uploaded April 2024 | Updated October 2024, 14 hours ago.
I don’t mind people having glances. I glance at people too. I people watch. But sometimes, I think staring at them the entire time they’re just trying to socialize with each other and eat is a little… uncomfortable. Your own food is getting cold.

Video Description & Transcript:
Stitched video shows an older couple (but one woman is in the frame) staring with a sort of disgusted or confused facial expression. Text says, “Was eating breakfast out and the couple next to us just stared the whole time”
Rikki with no makeup, wavy brown hair down. She is wearing a blue t-shirt with cassette tapes on it. She is using American Sign Language in the video.
“So one of my other deaf friends and I went out to eat. Of course, we were signing to each other. We weren’t alone. We were sat and two other tables were sat on both sides of us. So we’re signing and everyone else, like 4 people, stared. They were dead set focused on our signing.
