The Pleiades (M45) is one of the closest and most studied open star
clusters to Earth — located about 444 light-years away in the constellation
Taurus. This 12-minute 4K flythrough takes you inside the cluster, drifting
past its hot blue B-type stars and the reflection nebula that surrounds them.
What you're seeing:
M45 contains over 1,000 confirmed stars, though only the brightest few
are visible to the naked eye — typically 6 to 7, which is why it's known
across cultures as the Seven Sisters. The cluster is roughly 100 million
years old (young, by stellar standards) and the blue glow around the brightest
stars isn't leftover material from their formation. It's interstellar dust
the cluster is currently passing through, scattering the blue light of those
hot stars back toward us. Astronomers expect the cluster to remain gravitationally
bound for another ~250 million years before its stars disperse into the galaxy.
The Pleiades in human history:
Few celestial objects have left a deeper mark across cultures. The Greeks
named the cluster for the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione. The Japanese
call it Subaru — "to gather together" — and it appears on the Subaru car logo.
The Maori know it as Matariki and mark their new year by its heliacal rising.
The Aztec calendar, Hindu astronomy (Krittika), and countless other traditions
tracked the Pleiades for thousands of years before modern telescopes ever
resolved its individual stars.
How to use this video:
- Science viewing — see what M45 actually looks like up close in 4K
- Background visuals for stargazing nights, study sessions, or as ambient
4K on your TV
- A slow, immersive way to experience one of the night sky's most beautiful
objects
Filmed and rendered in 4K. Best experienced full-screen with the lights down.

![TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE 2026 LIVE | Greenland, Iceland & Spain | Path of Totality
WATCH THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE 2026 LIVE on August 12! Follow the Moons shadow from Greenland to Iceland to Spain with multiple LIVE telescope feeds, eclipse cameras, real-time maps and full totality coverage.
The August 12, 2026 Total Solar Eclipse is HERE, and it is the first total solar eclipse to cross Europe since August 11, 1999.
For Reykjavik, this is the first totality since 1433. For mainland Spain, the first in over a century. Join us LIVE as daylight drains away, the solar corona appears, and the Moons shadow races from the Arctic down to the Mediterranean.
KEY TIMES (August 12, 2026)
- Pre-show begins: [TIME] UTC / [TIME] CDT
- Partial eclipse begins (Arctic Russia): 15:34 UTC / 10:34 AM CDT / 17:34 CEST / 16:34 BST / 21:04 IST
- Greatest eclipse (North Atlantic, between Greenland and Iceland): 17:45:51 UTC / 12:45 PM CDT / 19:45 CEST / 18:45 BST / 23:15 IST
- Totality over Iceland: approx 17:45 to 17:50 UTC / 12:45 to 12:50 PM CDT
- Totality reaches northern Spain (Oviedo): 18:28 UTC / 1:28 PM CDT / 20:28 CEST
- Totality crosses Mallorca and ends: approx 18:32 UTC / 1:32 PM CDT
- Eclipse ends worldwide: 19:57 UTC / 2:57 PM CDT
THE PATH OF TOTALITY
The shadow does something unusual this time. It begins at sunrise over the Taymyr Peninsula in Arctic Russia, climbs over the top of the planet to within about 246 km of the North Pole, then drops down across eastern Greenland, western Iceland, the North Atlantic, and finally northern and eastern Spain, clipping a small corner of Portugal and exiting near the Balearic Islands.
Maximum totality is 2 minutes and 18 seconds out over the Atlantic, where the path is about 294 km wide. Most populated locations along the path get under two minutes. This is a short, sharp eclipse, which is exactly why we are covering it live from multiple positions at once.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE LIVE
- The partial phases, the Moons edge biting into the Sun
- LIVE views from Iceland
- LIVE views from Spain
- Coverage across Greenland and the North Atlantic
- Multiple telescope and filtered solar camera feeds
- Bailys beads and the diamond ring
- The Suns corona during totality
- Real-time eclipse maps and shadow tracking
- Live commentary, timings and Q and A throughout
WHY WE ARE RUNNING MULTIPLE FEEDS
The two best land targets pull in opposite directions. Iceland gets the higher Sun, around 25 degrees above the horizon, but August in Reykjavik brings roughly a three-in-four chance of cloud. Northern Spain flips the odds: far better odds of clear skies, but totality arrives with the Sun only about 3 to 10 degrees above the west-northwest horizon, sinking lower toward the Balearics. A sunset totality over the Iberian landscape looks nothing like 2024.
We will switch between locations as conditions change, so if one site clouds out, we keep you on the eclipse.
SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFETY - READ THIS
Never look at the Sun without ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses or a properly filtered telescope, camera or solar viewer. Sunglasses are never enough.
There is exactly one exception: if you are physically inside the narrow path of totality, during the brief minutes when the Moon completely covers the Sun. The instant the first sliver of Sun reappears, the glasses go back on.
Everywhere outside the path, including all of North America, protection is required for the entire event, no exceptions.
WATCHING FROM ANYWHERE
Whether you are in the United States, Europe, India, Australia or anywhere else, you can watch totality with us here in real time. No travel, and no glasses needed to watch on a screen, just the eclipse as it happens.
SET A REMINDER AND COME BACK AUGUST 12
Hit the bell, share the stream, and join us as we follow the 2026 Total Solar Eclipse across Greenland, Iceland and Spain.

![MASSIVE FIREBALLS — SOMETHING CHANGED
Something is happening with fireballs — and the data backs it up.
In the first quarter of 2026, the American Meteor Society logged 2,322 fireball events — the highest total on record. But the raw count isnt the strange part. What changed is the number of high-witness events: 40 fireballs drew 50+ reports (versus an average of ~20), and 16 drew 100+ (versus ~8). Long-duration sighting reports hit 1,693 — more than 2.5x the previous record of 651 set in 2021.
In this video I go through the CNEOS (NASAs Center for Near-Earth Object Studies) fireball database event by event — checking the size, speed, and energy of these incoming objects, cross-referencing the eyewitness reports, and looking at the footage people captured across the US and Europe. Some are tiny airbursts. Some are earth-grazers trying to escape the atmosphere. And a few of them still dont have an easy explanation.
AMS points to one likely factor — AI assistants sending more people to report — but that alone doesnt account for the elevated sonic booms or the recovered meteorite falls. So whats actually going on? Lets look at the data together.
Happy July 4th, Rayliens. This is my way of showing you the fireworks.

Ill be doing a Part 2 / live session with more of this data soon.
