Comet 3I ATLAS — Any Connection to the Sun’s Coronal Holes & Mars Orbiter Images — I Took a PICTURE
Comet 3I ATLAS, an interstellar object passing through our solar system, is being discussed alongside recent activity on the Sun — especially large coronal holes seen in space-based solar imagery. In this video, I take a careful, science-based look at whether there is any real connection between these phenomena and what images from Mars orbiters and solar observatories actually show.
We cover:
What the Sun’s corona really is
What coronal holes are (and why they are not physical holes)
Why coronal holes are visible only in EUV and X-ray wavelengths
How solar plasma and solar wind behave
What Mars orbiter imagery can and cannot tell us
