As the communication director or outreach coordinator at a Catholic organization, there are some decisions that only you can make for your video project. Your time is limited, though, and there are things that you can let go of and still have a high-impact video. Here are both lists.
You need to:
Define your goal and audience.
Write measurable indicators that determine whether or not the project was successful.
Decide your budget.
Decide who is filming and editing the video.
Get approval from anyone higher up the chain.
Connect with and schedule any internal people who are in it.
Review and approve the edited video.
Post the it online following best practices.
You don’t need to:
Write the script.
Make the schedule.
Decide backgrounds.
Write interview questions.
Conduct the interviews.
Worry about releases or legal requirements.
Decide equipment or technical specifications.
Stay with the crew all day.
Review unfinished edits of the video.
Pour your limited time and attention into those things that only you can decide. And let the video professional take care of everything else.
