A Silent Voice follows Shoya and Shoko, as each doubts whether they’re worthy of deep connection or not. Specifically with Shoya, a former bully of Shoko, the questions are of empathy and difference; can he understand a deaf girl enough to make amends? A Silent Voice shows both the end and beginning of friendship, discussing its illogical nature in depth.
A Place Further Than the Universe is an anime about four girls, Kimari, Shirase, Hinata, and Yuzuki, making it to their common goal of Antarctica, with tons of mutual support. However, this common goal doesn’t fully explain their connection, as they stress the importance of the loose definition of friend in A Place Further Than the Universe. Yuzuki wants a contract for their social status together, however, Kimari, Shirase, and Hinata all refuse; they met by a lack of strict boundaries, so setting them now would defeat their bond.
Princess Jellyfish is a show all about what deeper bonds can be and do for those different loners and outcasts; like Tsukimi, and under the surface, like Kuanosuke too. Sure, from their similar experiences the sisterhood can provide empathy, support and more, but the real strength comes in their differences; that the world has given them the same reaction. Namely from Tsukimi and Kuranosuke, Princess Jellyfish discusses how different people can come together, and how those bonds may be the most important.
